about
This is my take on part of Martin Galway's SID soundtrack for the 1987 Commodore 64 version of arcade game 'Athena'. Here's what I wrote about my track upon release in 2006:
"If you've played Athena on any platform, you'll know that the heroine is a cute little bobble-head of a sprite, and if you haven't, you do now. Either way, there's a fantastic 1997 magazine ad for the game on the Commodore 64 and Spectrum with the headline:
FROM THE ARCADES - A TIGRESS!
... and it has this cool, super-serious fantasy art of an Amazonian Athena hacking the horn off some huge Minotaur thing. When comparing this image to the reality of the little bobble-headed Athena sprite, you've gotta laugh.
I always loved that Athena poster, and the Galway intro tune, and my remix is inspired by the Athena world that they suggest to me. The track was composed+sequenced in Computer Muzys, mixed in Logic Express."
